• Assistant Pastor – a spiritually mature leader passionate about evangelism, discipleship, and community outreach in a multigenerational setting.
• Traditional Music Director – a gifted musician and choir leader who can guide our Chancel, youth, and children’s choirs and worship and seasonal programs.
• Worship Leader – a dynamic vocalist or instrumentalist who can lead contemporary worship, collaborate with the pastoral team, and cultivate a spirit-filled worship experience.
• Pianist – a pivotal part of the ministerial staff in partnership with the pastor(s), music minister, other accompanists and applicable committee(s).

Worship Accompanist (Pianist)

Job Description

Overview:
To accompany the Chancel choir and other choirs as needed, to play with the praise team and support the worship services with appropriate musical offerings. To be a team player, a pivotal part of the ministerial staff in partnership with the pastor(s), music minister, other accompanists and applicable committee(s) in order to further the mission and ministry of Liberty Church Macon.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide music at worship services, including Sunday morning services and any special
  services, E.g. Advent, Christmas, Lent and Holy week. Occasional extra rehearsals a year
  may be added for these services. Responsibilities shared with other accompanist during
  a worship service would be to accompany the congregational hymn singing and to play solo works that would include but not be limited to the prelude, postlude, volunteer offertory and communion serving music.
• Rehearse with and accompany the Chancel choir and praise team as needed. Rehearsals for the Chancel choir are traditionally held on Wednesday evenings and other times as announced.
• Rehearse with and accompany soloist and instrumentalist for any music used in a worship service when needed, and in coordination with the traditional music minister

Job Expectations:

• While the accompanist does not have to be a member of the church, he/she is expected to model Christianity in all aspects of duties and to support the church’s doctrine as it applies to this position and as member of church leadership.
• The accompanist should have prior experience in playing the piano and accompanying the church in worship.
• The accompanist should have sensitivity and the ability to interact with a variety of people. He/she should be a team player, working along with other church musicians.
• The accompanist must have a criminal background check and complete safe sanctuaries training.

Vacation, Sick and Leave days:

• All vacation and sick leave policies are governed by the most current Employee handbook and are subject to change.
• The worship accompanist position is entitled to paid annual leave as follows (in weeks)
  based upon the current policy in the Employee handbook:
• 0 to 6 years of continuous employment – 2 weeks leave
• 7 to 14 years of continuous employment – 3 weeks leave
• 15 or more years of continuous employment – 4 weeks leave
• Time off request are to be submitted to the music minister. The leave request form is
  available in the Employee handbook and copies can be found in the church office.
• A week is typically considered one Sunday and one Wednesday.
• A sick leave policy is included in the Employee handbook
• Request for any special leave not defined in the Employee handbook should be submitted to SR for review and approval.

Assistant Pastor

Job Description

Overview:
The Assistant Pastor is one who is gifted and called to church ministry within a multi-generational congregational setting. He shepherds people and has a passion for evangelism and missions both personally and at the ministry level. He has a passion for the Word of God, the people of God, and the Holy Spirit and desires to proclaim it with conviction and confidence, always moving the congregation toward taking consistent spiritual steps. He is one who, collaborating with the other leaders, carries out vision for the ministries under his direction. The Assistant Pastor lives out the Great Commission by sharing the gospel boldly from the pulpit, by being in the community, and through one-on-one relationships.

Job Qualifications

• Possesses personality, temperament, and interpersonal skills to relate and serve effectively within a multi-generational congregational setting.
• Exhibits evidence of Christian character and servant leadership as stated in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-4 in work environment as well as in home/family setting.
• Gives evidence of a spiritually balanced life and having an authentic growing relationship with Jesus Christ (prayer, Bible study, rest, worship, financial stewardship).
• Gives evidence of a strong work ethic and personal integrity.
• In agreement with our Doctrine Statement, Mission Statement, and Bylaws.
• Teachable, adaptable, a team player, with a strong ability to develop relationships.
• The Assistant Pastor will preferably have at least some post-secondary education related to Christian ministry or Biblical studies.
• Regular continuing education to continue developing ministry skills is an expectation. The SR Committee and/or the Senior Pastor may give guidance on recommended content areas for planned continuing education.
• Experience in outreach, small group discipleship, leading, and speaking preferable.
• Capable of establishing strong community relationships.
• Strong organizational and administrative skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain good standing with Liberty Church Macon by adhering to and abiding by the Doctrinal Statement and Bylaws. This also includes living an exemplary Christian life.
• Support the Senior Pastor and church council in overall vision-casting and leadership of the church’s teaching.
• Work with the Senior Pastor to ensure weekend services are planned and executed.
• Communicate effectively in preaching as scheduled and be prepared to preach in case of last-minute need.
• Coordinate Sunday morning volunteer groups such as welcome center, coffee, communion, and special event tables.
• Recruit, teach, train, spiritually support, and effectively supervise volunteers for small groups and ministries within the church.
• Be available on Sundays to greet attendees and be available for questions or prayer.
• Coordinate follow up contact with new guests and members who have not attended church for a couple of weeks, along with the Senior Pastor.
• Know the congregation by showing intense interest in them. This will include getting to know personal and family stories of congregants.
• Help with new member orientation classes.
• Coordinate with the Senior Pastor to visit members in the hospital, care facilities, and homes.
• When requested, conduct funerals and weddings, both at the church and at locations away from the church.
• Provide pastoral care to children, youth, and families and provide confidential pastoral counseling or guidance in emergencies and on a short-term basis.
• Teach small group or Sunday school classes as needed.
• Help provide oversight for the pastors/directors responsible for Children and Student Ministries.
• Assist the Senior Pastor in leading the staff in ways that encourage, challenge, and hold them accountable to their walk with God both at an individual and group level.
• Encourage Ushers to greet visitors and hand them a visitor information card so we can reach out to the visitor.
• Provide an Assistant pastoral progress report to the annual meeting of Liberty Church Macon.

Traditional Music Director

Job Description

Purpose:
To lead Liberty Church Macon’s choirs (e.g. Chancel Choir, youth and children’s choirs) in rehearsals, weekly music offerings, special programs in accordance with seasonal worship, and as needed, individual solo and instrumental support. To be a team player, a pivotal part of the ministerial staff in partnership with the pastor(s), church organist, church pianist, youth and children’s leaders, praise band and applicable committee(s) to further the mission and ministry of Liberty Church Macon.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular choir rehearsals for the Chancel Choir and youth and children’s choirs in preparation for weekly services on Sundays and special events during Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Holy Week.
• Responsibilities include leadership of the church music staff, including the church organist, church pianist and youth/children’s music groups, including liturgical dancers, to deliver programs consistent with the daily, weekly, seasonal and annual needs of the church’s music mission.
• As needed, assist soloists and instrumentalists in preparation for Sunday service and special programs.
• Provide oversight of the music departmental budget to ensure compliance and be prepared for quarterly and/or as needed reporting to the Church Council.
• Ensure an adequate music library for choir programs and proper maintenance of instruments essential to these programs.
• Actively recruit new members of choirs and provide support as needed in preparation for their participation in musical performances.
• Communicate with choir participants via email/cell phone/social media regarding scheduled, and changes in, scheduled rehearsals. While rehearsals are traditionally on Wednesday evenings, others may be called as announced and the music director is responsible for informing all participants of these changes.
• Continuously seek to grow the current music programs as well as seek other enhancements to the music ministry, e.g. handbell choir, others, as beneficial to the church’s mission.

Job Expectations:

• While the traditional music director does not have to be a member of the church, he/she is expected to model Christianity in all aspects of duties and to support the church’s doctrine as it applies to this position and as a member of church leadership.
• The traditional music director should have prior experience in conducting choir(s) and demonstrate an understanding of the role in the overall mission of the church.
• The traditional music director should be able to display a degree of competence in choir direction and the coordination of instrumentalists. A degree in a musical area preferred.
• In addition to proficiency in directing choirs, the traditional music director should possess the knowledge and agility of basic music theory, essential to directing reporting musicians.
• The traditional music director should have sensitivity and the ability to interact with a variety of people. He/she should be a team player, working with the senior pastor, other staff, the Church Council and SPR.
• In addition to interactions with church leadership and lay leaders, the traditional music director shall be able to demonstrate patience with varying abilities of choir membership, develop reasonable expectations related to the capabilities of choir membership, and provide a friendly, pleasant, and inviting environment for those wishing to join the choirs.
• Attend at least one choral workshop, or comparable training, per year.
• The traditional music director shall have a criminal background check and complete Safe Sanctuaries Training.

Contemporary Music Director

Job Description

Overview:
As the Contemporary Music Director, he or she will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the praise team’s involvement with the contemporary worship service at Liberty Church Macon. This position will work under the direction of the senior pastor to facilitate the music for worship at the contemporary service.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plan all music for the contemporary service while working in conjunction with the Senior Pastor.
• Function as liaison between the praise team and the church secretary for the purposes of printing the bulletin, the senior pastor to coordinate specific songs to coincide with the sermon or special service, the Traditional Music Director for special or combined services and programs, whoever has charge of running the PowerPoint for the contemporary service, and the praise team members.
• Maintain the positions in the praise team so that we have our regular musicians or alternates in place to facilitate the music for the contemporary service.
• Be responsible for securing and distributing the chord sheets, lead sheets, or sheet music for the musicians in the praise team.
• Be responsible for maintaining our compliance with Christian Copyright Licensing by reporting our usage of chord sheets, lead sheets, sheet music, and PowerPoint credits.
  Secure and maintain all equipment used exclusively by the praise team and work with the Audio Committee if there are issues with equipment, etc.
• Facilitate and run rehearsals for the praise team and contact praise team members through phone calls, text messages, and/or emails to coordinate rehearsals, schedule changes, or any special circumstances.
• Have something in place in the event of sickness or being absent so that the music for the contemporary service can still be carried out.
• Maintain good relations with the volunteers that make up the praise team.

Job Expectations:

• Personal and vibrant faith in Jesus Christ marked by an observed obedience to the Word of God, a deeply rooted prayer life, and giftedness and fruitfulness in the Holy Spirit.
• Proven experience leading teams and leading music in worship services.
• Basic technology skills with computers and audio/visual equipment to include proficiency with commonly used social media applications.
• Leading the praise team and the congregation in praise and worship songs at the contemporary service each Sunday and at other services as requested.
• Offering congregational prayers during the worship service in conjunction with the praise and worship songs.
• Singing and/or playing one or more musical instruments during the contemporary music service.
